Shirley sings real cowboy/western music complete with some of the most difficult yodeling techniques. Shirley was once star of the CFJC Kamloops radio show, "The Cowboy's Sweetheart" and a guest on the "Grand Ole Opry". She has also toured throughout Ontario and the Midwestern USA with "The Shirley Field Show".

Some of the cherished memories and highlights of Shirley's career are touring with the late, great Marty Robbins and her dear friend, Loretta Lynn, as well as being honored as Canada's female yodeling champion in 1950. On November 4th 1993, Shirley won the International Female Yodeling Championship at the Western Music Festival in Tucson, Arizona. February 6, 1998 was awarded the Bronze Bully Award for her dedication in performing western music for over 50 years. It was awarded to Wilf Carter in 1996 and Roy Rogers and the Sons of the Pioneers in 1997.

Shirley continues to delight crowds whenever she sings at concerts, stage shows, rodeos and social gatherings. She has already recorded eight cassettes, and three CD's. In November of 1994, Shirley was asked to teach a yodeling seminar and was inspired along with Rudy Robbins of Bandera, Texas to co-create the book and tape "How To Yodel the Cowboy Way ". Now on sale in music stores all over the world.

More about Shirley

Born: In Armstrong, British Columbia, Canada and raised on her family's farm/ranch in the municipality of Spallumcheen (Indian word meaning "beautiful valley"). Shirley loved the cowboy way of life and particularly loved to participate in cattle drives and do her fair share of work with the rest of the cattle drive cowboys.

Musical Start: At the age of nine, she started composing, singing and yodeling. The first yodeling she heard was by Jimmy Rodgers on an old 78rpm record. She learned the basics of yodeling from her father, and was told by her parents that she learned to sing and talk before she learned to walk! Singing was a natural vocation in Shirley's home as the entire family would participate in sing-a-longs which featured her mother's beautiful soprano voice.

Influenced By: Wilf Carter, her dear friend and idol, now deceased.
